Bright lives up to it’s name, the colors of the landscape is vibrant and picturesque. Especially if you decide to visit in Autumn/Fall, the trees are covered with red and orange tones that make many people mesmerized. The town itself, is extremely family friendly. Cafes, restaurants and clothing shops scatter along the main street along with some pubs and breweries for whatever you decide suits you.
There is a water park just off the main street which is perfect for summer days, and all ages. This location can definitely get extremely busy in peak season but there is always room to enjoy your afternoon cooling off from the dry Bright heat that can come through the summer.
One of my favorite things about Bright is that there is so many different things you can do. I have visited this location for years and there is always something new and exciting, but there is also always enjoyment in revisiting places. Whether it be relaxing or exploring. Whether you go in Summer or Winter. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed with what Bright presents to you.
If you enjoy the cooler months, Mount Hotham (popular ski resort) is a great option to try a new hobby or to continue an existing one.
There are so many different swimming holes, creeks and waterfalls scattered in and around Bright. For those who enjoy the physical side of traveling there are options like Mountain bike riding, hikes, and beautiful look outs that make you feel like you are on top of the world. Literally.
Mount Buffalo is my personal favorite. The views and the waterfalls there are brilliant and breath taking.
Lady bath falls is one of the first waterfalls on the drive up Mount Buffalo which is less then 1km walk from the car park. This place can get busy in the peak season as it is super family friendly. The children LOVE this spot. It is always a good time.
Continuing up Mount Buffalo, there are many more waterfalls like Rollasons Falls (upper and lower falls) which are incredible. The walk is longer, around 4km return but once you arrive you will realize it was very much worth it if you are not one who enjoys hiking. The water that runs through this area is so crystal clear that you can see the surface. The water is cold and fresh, but amazing! Especially after the walk and the heat it is a perfect place to cool off.
Now, there is a place called Crystal Brook and let me tell you you the reason I have a soft spot for this location. One, the view is so overwhelmingly beautiful that you can’t help but feel like you are bursting with gratitude for places like this. My advice, grab a picnic rug and sit back with your loved one. I can guarantee, you won’t regret it. Crystal Brook has carved out the Gorge over 360 million years.. I’m sure that speaks for itself.
For those who enjoy hiking, you can do a hike that is called ‘The Big Walk’. This walk can be 11.3km or 16km with a side trip to Rollasons Falls. This hike will take you through Mount Buffalo and is a great way to see everything from the picnic areas to the amazing views of the Australian Alps and The Gorge from numerous lookouts.
Pretty much, if you visit Bright you will always have something to do in so many different forms. I have been multiple times myself and I never get sick of it, if anything I continue to discover more and more each time I visit and feel blessed to live near such beautiful part of the world.
