Now let me tell you about the most underrated, chill and warm place that has caught my heart completely, and that is Agnes Water in Queensland, Australia.
Agnes water is a small beach town, with friendly locals, good vibes and is also great if you want to learn how to surf. We went to Agnes water to meet up with other like minded individuals who also travel in vans. We were recommended to go to this spot specifically because we wanted to try and learn how to surf, and Agnes water is the place to do exactly that. With the Surf school Lazy Lizard we were able to hire boards to be able to learn on which was super handy if you don’t already have a board. The staff and owner there are so lovely, welcoming and warm that you instantly feel at home. They are located outside of a cafe called Codie’s place. Which is located in the main beach next to the car park.
If you are not interested in learning how to surf, this place still has so much to offer. There’s a long strip of shops with everything you would need and more, whether you want to have a browse at clothes and jewelry or grab dinner, its all there. Further up from the shops there is also a Tavern, and when we went to the tavern on the Saturday night it was packed with all of the locals and visitors dancing to live music, everyone mingling and getting to know each other and just an all round great time. Highly recommend if you enjoy having a dance and laugh.
There is also a beautiful paperbark forest that you can have a stroll through and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. This place had me completely immersed and feeling almost fairy like with its magical vibe. It is only a small walk, but it’s very easy to lose track of time in this place.
The vibes alone make you never want to leave and catch you without even knowing. There are many beaches surrounding Agnes water. As I mentioned, the main beach, but also small more secluded and private beaches. One of the nights we had in Agnes water we went down to the beach and created a little beach fire with our blankets and drinks to enjoy our last night.. and can i tell you it was to most beautiful experience we have had on the road to this day. Honestly, I don’t know if anything can beat this. We had the beach all to ourselves while we watched the sun disappear and the moon come out. Danced around the fire singing and chatting away.
As for camping, we stayed at Workmans beach campground which was a small cost, and very worth it as you have a couple of beaches surrounding you.
I highly recommend everything that I have mentioned. I can almost guarantee that you will fall in love with this place just like we did.
